In the Chinese city of Shanghai, 42 people have been detained for their role in anti-Japanese protests.
The Shanghai Daily says 16 of those will be charged with disturbing social order.
The newspaper says another 26 have been placed in “short-term detention” after allegedly throwing objects at the Japanese consulate and damaging restaurants and cars, believed to be owned by Japanese people.
