U.S. Increases Pressure on China Over Counterfeiting, Piracy

The U.S. said China has failed to live up to its pledge to crack down on counterfeiters, and laid out a series of improvements Chinese authorities must take to avoid a dispute over the issue at the World Trade Organization.

In a report on protection of intellectual property rights globally, the U.S. Trade Representative’s office elevated China into its “priority watch list” of countries that are the worst offenders of trademark and copyright infringement. Thirteen other nations are on that list including Russia, Brazil and Pakistan.
