From United Press International:

Senior officials from China’s water resources ministry warned Friday that mounting water shortages are impacting the country’s economic and social development.

At present, more than 400 out of 660 Chinese cities suffer water shortages, with the situation described by the China Daily as “very bad” in more than 100 places, including Beijing and Tianjin.
