In the market that is home to the world’s largest population of children, Chinese cartoonists are desperate to attract investments as they struggle to draw their own future and leave their marks on society.

“We can’t depend on the domestic market to cover our big costs. That’s why, from the very beginning, our film was made with an international angle,” Xu Ling, general manager of the Institute of Digital Media Technology (Shenzhen) Limited (IDMT), tells China Business Weekly.
