The Defense Department’s annual report on Chinese military power, released late July 19, is “deliberately non-alarmist,” a senior official said. However, some findings are “worrisome,” the official added.
The 45-page report (PDF), required by Congress each year, “is a very factual presentation of what’s taken place in the People’s Republic of China,” Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said, shortly before the report was released.
