Mandelson in stark warning over China trade – George Parker

From The Financial Times:

Peter Mandelson, commissioner, on Tuesday warned of clothes shortages for European retailers and higher prices for consumers if the trade crisis which has left millions of Chinese garments piling up at Europe’s ports was not resolved.

“The consequences of not doing so will be severe economic pain for many small retailers and businesses in the member states,” Mr Mandelson told the European parliament’s trade committee.

Mr Mandelson wants to unblock the goods by mid-September, and is expected to table proposals to the ’s 25 member states to solve the logjam.
