Hu presses Spain on EU arms embargo – Renwick McLean

From The International Herald Tribune:

President Hu Jintao of China began the final leg of his European tour on Monday, visiting the Spanish Parliament and meeting with Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to discuss strengthening business and political ties between their two countries.

The agenda included discussion of lifting the European Union’s arms embargo on China, increasing Spanish investment there, promoting Spain as a tourist destination to the Chinese, and developing business strategies for trading with Latin America.

Spain is the last stop on the visit to Europe that Hu began last week with trips to Britain and Germany, where he promoted trade and business ties and made his case for the lifting of the arms embargo.
