Miner Commits Suicide – Radio Free Asia

An unemployed miner in China’s southern province of Guangdong blew himself up at local police station after pleading with officers to help him obtain , witnesses said.

Police have identified the miner as Liu Yingqiu, a native of central Hunan province, they told RFA’s Cantonese service.

He appears to have triggered an explosion around 3 p.m. July 13 at the busy Shaoguan police station, they said.

Liu had been working for an illegal mine earlier in the year in Wenguan city, also in province, sources said. [Full Text]
