China’s New Top 100 Counties

China National Bureau of Statistics released “2005 Top 100 Counties” today. Among China’s 100 wealthiest counties, 52 were from Zhejiang and Shandong province. And among the top 11, seven were from Jiangsu province.

Although the population of the top 100 counties was about 7.7 percent of all counties’ population, their gross domestic product counted for a quarter of all counties’.

The 100 wealthiest counties spread among 16 provinces. Zhejiang province claimed 30, and Shandong province took 22. The top 3 counties were Kunshan county in Jiangsu province, Shunde county in Guangdong province, and Jiangyin county in Jiangsu province.
