A visit from Chen Shuying may be not good news for the loved ones of seriously ill patient. Twenty-eight-year-old Chen’s job is to persuade the relatives of dying patients to donate their loved ones’ corneas, according to the Guangzhou Daily. She is the first in the country to have such a job.

Chen has successfully gotten 96 patients to donate their corneas in turn has helped 212 patients regain their sight. There are as many as two million people nationwide waiting for corneas every year.

Over the past three years, Chen has been hunting for news of deaths. She always rushes to the hospital if she hears of a traffic accident, as the corneas must be removed from corpses within six hours after death. [Full Text]
