China Fears Iran May Push Israel to Attack

China’s Middle East experts–including special envoy Sun Bigan–are said to be increasingly concerned that Beijing’s non-Arab, nuclear arming, Islamist ally, Iran, could be going too far in its efforts to isolate and delegitimize Israel. Sources say the Chinese fear that if Israel feels genuinely cornered, it could lash out against Iran with devastating preemptive military strikes that could in turn trigger a regional conflagration.

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly vowed to wipe Israel off the map, while denying the reality of the Holocaust. The Iranian regime will play host next week to a neo-Nazi Holocaust denying conference in Tehran. [Full Text]
