Sudan Tops Agenda as Chinese President Prepares for Key Africa Tour – AP

Twice in the past three years, Chinese President Hu Jintao has been greeted in Africa as the welcomed leader of a new economic and political power. But on a trip starting Tuesday, he also faces growing skepticism about China’s role on the continent.

The itinerary for the eight-nation, 12-day tour reads like a guide to the reach and pitfalls of China’s influence.

Hu will visit stalwart allies South Africa and Zambia – where protests and criticisms about Chinese motives have arisen – and new friends such as Liberia, where China is hunting for oil and supplying peacekeepers.[Full Text]
