50% of Audience Calls 2007 Spring Festival Party Boring – Eastern Morning Post

Two networks reflect different comments on 2007 CCTV Spring Festival Party. Sina web survey shows that 50% of the audience thinks the party was boring, while Xinhua agency says over 80% of the audience found it interesting. From Eastern Morning Post, translated by CDT:

The Party used to arrange for the audience to make fake applause. This year there was not only fake applause but also fake cheers, which became very loud. For years audiences have complained about fake singing in CCTV Party. Unfortunately, there was a lot fake singing this year, too. Since 1980 watching CCTV Party has become custom for most Chinese families. However, the Party becomes less and less fun and the advertisements are more and more expensive. This year CCTV made RMB 500million (USD 62million) from the advertising. A CEO’s face shown on screen during the party costs RMB three million(USD 370,000).[Full Chinese Text]

Six hosts all made mistakes in the end of the party around 12:00am.
