In the wake of the latest breakthrough in the long-running negotiations to end North Korea’s rogue nuclear programme China has again won plaudits for muscling its recalcitrant neighbour to the table and brokering a deal.
“China has done a great job of getting us together,” Christopher Hill, the chief US negotiator, said after the first day of talks in what became a mantra he repeated throughout the week.
When the agreement was announced on Tuesday, Mr Hill stressed it could not have been done without Beijing and praised his Chinese counterpart, Wu Dawei. [Full Text]
