China Central Bank Sees 10.8% GDP Rise in 2007 – V. Phani Kumar

China’s gross domestic product is forecast to grow 10.8% for the full-year 2007, achieving a double-digit growth for the fourth straight year, while its consumer price index will likely rise 3.2% this year, a report cited the People’s Bank of China as saying on Friday.

The PBOC’s research bureau said in a research report published in the state-run China Securities Journal that it expects China’s GDP to rise 10.9% in the second quarter from a year ago, 10.7% in the third quarter and 10.6% in the fourth quarter, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report.

China’s economy grew 11.1% year-on-year in the January-March quarter, after expanding 10.7% for the full-year in 2006. [Full Text]
