67,000 Evacuated as Huaihe River Continues to Rise - Keralanext.com

The rising water level of the Huaihe River forced another 67,000 people in east China’s Anhui Province from their homes on Thursday, the local flood control authority said.

By 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, the water level of the section of the river at Linhuaiguan, a township in Fengyang County near the middle reaches of the , had risen to 20.35 meters, exceeding the safety limit of 19.90 meters, the county flood control headquarters said. The provincial flood control headquarters issued an urgent notice at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, requiring all 67,615 residents from 56 villages in the Huanyuanhu flood water diversion area to evacuate before 4:00 p.m. [Full Text]
