Indian Communications Giant: 200-million-dollar Contract for China
India’s leading private mobile phone service operator Reliance Communications (RCOM) on Thursday awarded a contract worth more than 200-million-dollars to China’s telcom solutions major Huawei for expanding its network in the country. “Under the agreement, Huawei would supply and provide deployment services for CDMA and GSM base stations, including Base Services Centres and switches, and help create top-of-the-line next generation network infrastructure,” RCOM said in a statement.
The technology from Huawei is expected to bring down RCOM’s total cost of ownership by enabling a significantly faster and more cost- effective expansion of existing CDMA and GSM network services. It will also enhance the company’s competitive advantage in attracting new subscribers. [Full Text]
