Shanghai’s Jiaotong University (‰∏äʵ∑‰∫§ÈÄö§ßÂ≠¶), a prestigious engineering school, published its 2007 university ranking on Saturday, on which Harvard, Stanford and UC Berkeley top the list. What’s surprising, or not, is China’s top schools only rank as low as 167th and 228th on this list, respectively Tsinghua and Peking University. Japan’s Tokyo University is 20th and Taiwan University ranks 161st.
This is the fifth list Jiaotong University has been publishing and it ranks over 2,000 institutions worldwide based on their number of Nobel and other prizes, academic publications and faculty quality, etc. Five hundred schools will make the annual list.
