For 25 years the Chinese economy was mainly controlled by smart, tough, reform-minded leaders who deftly managed the contradictions of capitalism and dictatorship. And it took that long for these leaders to painfully establish their credibility.
How long would it take the current crop of leaders to squander this policy legacy? Some well-placed observers and officials are concerned they are about to find out.
