Wu Yi: Forget Me – China News Agency

Dy C 2007-12-24 U1832P1T1D14591431F1394Dt20071225104623Chinese Vice Premier Ms. Wu Yi is signaling that she won’t be around for another five-year term here. Instead she wants to be forgotten. Translated by CDT from China News Agency:

“I will fully retire after next year’s two congress sessions,” Wu Yi told an international business delegates during a conference at the People’s Hall in Beijing on December 24. She is serious in that, insisting that she wouldn’t assume any position with governmental, semi-governmental, or grass-roots organizations. She asked people to completely forget about her.

This is a reiteration of Wu’s retirement resolve after an overture in late November at a China-US business council year-end banquet.

Also, Wu reminded her entrepreneur conferees about corruption. “If it’s legitimate to take, then you can; if not, then don’t,” she cautioned her younger colleagues. She then went on to encourage the business men and women to learn about policies and investment climates in countries they want to invest, and to work hard to create more wealth for the country.
