The New Year’s bell is about to ring, and 2008 is nearly here. At this moment full of cheer and hope, via China Radio International, China National Radio and China Central Television, I’m delighted to extend New Year wishes to Chinese of all ethnic groups, to compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, to overseas Chinese and to friends all over the world!

In 2007, the world experienced new changes, and China achieved new progress. People of all ethnic groups in China continued with one heart and one mind to promote a moderately prosperous society in all respects. China’s overall national strength further increased and the livelihood of the people continued to improve. The Chinese people strengthened communication and cooperation with people all over the world, endeavored to achieve appropriate solutions to major international issues, and strove to build lasting peace, common prosperity and a harmonious world.
