西方人过去在中国的确展开过一些军事行动，但从宏观大局来看，这也并非一件坏事。让我们参考一些被真正被殖民的国家的经历，如比属刚果，再比较一下中国的遭遇，再次证明西方用武力强行打开旧中国的国门有益于中国，当然，这不可避免地带来了侮辱和剥削。可以参看Monty Python所著的Life of Brian中呈现的“罗马人到底对我们做了什么？”的情节。

美利坚合众国，很显然，在此问题上毫无资格对别国破坏自然环境作道德批评。但基于长期的经验，美国绝对有资格从环境科学角度提出评价，建议更好的方式方法，汇同更多民间或官方的关注自身土地、空气和水源的中国人，来促进更加绿色的环保技术在中国的使用。中国人对此的抱怨是其情绪性宣泄中最危险的一种：即对批评过度情绪化的反应（针对字里行间可感知到的侮辱），而不是针对批评意见中所陈述的事实部分。我个人建议：中国人应该忽视其中的不敬，正视事实，为中国人自己珍视和清洁自己的环境。

据我了解中国政府对环境问题重视程度不比美国政府差。我个人建议：美国人应该忽视对别国的道德批评，从自己做起。精神病人的医嘱没人敢接受。

当我们要实行计划生育限制人口过度膨胀，你们又指责我们破坏、违反人权。

当你们为石油而开战时，你们为师出有名美其名曰“解放”。

这里我不想为入侵伊拉克战争辩解，我要说明的是美国从未说过“解放伊拉克”的话。我们美国人仅称之为“伊拉克战争”。并且许多美国人反对它，自由地体现在书籍、电影还有街头抗议。他们自由地批评批评政府的立场、揭露政府的宣传，而且拒投支持战争的政客的票。

抱歉我站在这儿做宣传，捍卫美国立场有两件有利的佐证，不管这种立场本身有多错误：1）在美国这样一个多元化社会里，没有诸如“美国立场”这样的概念，因为政府不能刻意垄断民意。所以也没有如你在China’s Grievances.（中国的冤屈）一文中展示的单一的“你们”的立场（我也不相信单一的“我们”的立场）；2）没有哪一个外国的对美国的批评象美国人自己对政府的批评那样尖锐、有意义和有效。这就使我们练就了一付“厚脸皮”，增强了我们的自信，而且一定程度具有了对外来侮辱的免疫性。

再多元，也有一个代表你们的政府和总统吧？你们的政府和总统把入侵说成解放，这是你们美国选民不承认就能说得过去的吗？

当我们迷失在动乱中，你们指责我们缺少法制。

不。邓小平使中国走上了法制的正轨，这样中国才能按照自己的最大利益，避开动乱，吸引了众多的外国投资、技术和管理经验。

这种指责确有其事，你现在说不我们还是欢迎。

当我们捍卫法律和秩序，反对暴力时，你们却指责我们违反人权。

“法律和秩序”和法制不是一回事。

过去当我们选择沉默时，你们说要我们去争取言论自由。
当我们不再沉默时，你们又指责我们被洗脑、恐外仇外。

美国人确实很轻易就骂中国人被洗脑、恐外仇外、民族主义等等。这种冲动的做法无助于美国人了解真正发生在中国的事情。可在辩论中，诘问辩论的对手从那里获得他们的讯息、要求他们资料翔实的进行理性的辩论、建议他们讨论历史问题时先咨询历史学家等，这和骂架可不是一个概念。

我也建议，凡事从诚心做起，一个极力不愿意接受事实的人，确实被洗脑了。

“为什么你们恨我们如此至深？”我们不禁要问。

但你们理解我们吗？

当我的许多中国朋友使用“理解中国”之类的词汇时，他们真正指的是“接受中国对自身的理解”，更明确一些就是“接受中国共产党对中国的诠释”。但没有人希望只获得别人想灌输他们的观点。人聪明不止于此。我对中国的理解无疑是不完全的（本来也不可能完全啊），而且肯定和中共的理解不同，但这并不能说明我的理解就不合逻辑或缺乏理性。中国人本身就有许多不同的对中国的理解，就像美国人对美国一样。也许我们一起放弃“理解”的话题，大家都会好过点。

确确实实希望你抛弃“接受西方人对自身的解释”的观点，抛弃偏见，真实是怎样的最好不要预设立场，不管是谁的解释，自己去认识一下才好。毛泽东有句名言：“想知道梨子的滋味最好亲自去尝一尝”，和你共勉。

提了个好问题。我认为美国人无从答起。这需要花时间来仔细斟酌。过去二十年中国的高速发展是史无前例的，这对人类发展的各个领域都有重要意义。但中国不停地在变，那些意义也随之进化发展而难以把握。我们如何评价中国的发展和随之带来的问题？我们对此没有答案，也不可能有。中国对此也没有定见，正入已故中国领导人邓小平说的：改革是摸着石头过河。可我们明确的知道其中风险很高。这就是为什么中国发生的很多事件都被非中国人严格的审视和置疑。整个世界都在对中国的发展方向忐忑不安，因而对于提出的问题，这些提问者不会在不经过自己调查研究就认可中国政府的表态。西方和东方，每一个人，都有理由质疑中国将走向何方。

是啊，预设立场的调查研究确实对认识误差太大。每一个东方和西方的人，都有理由质疑，西方人到底想从我们这里得到什么？

因为你还有许多机会。

不要以威胁结尾。这会破坏了你宣称的有意和平的初衷.

够了够了，这个“同一个世界”充满了伪善。

这个世界确实伪善大行其道。伪善是一个简便易行的托词借口。让我们扔掉它。我们的共同挑战是应对复杂的局面。

Have you been to China lately? You still think Chinese central government and Beijing Mandarins have so much power and sway over Chinese people today? If you ask what the ordinary Chinese what they want from the central government, it will not be “less control from the Party”, but probably more likely that the central government should exert control on the corrupt local government officials.
