Man Detained After Posting Internet Message Threatening to Attack the Olympic Torch

Xinhua reported the following news, which is now all over Chinese BBS and blogs, translated by CDT:

According to Yangtze Evening News, a resident in Jiangsu Province of China was recently detained by local police after he posted a message on an Internet forum threatening to attack the Olympic Torch.

28-year-old Tang works for a telecommunication company in Zhengjiang City of Jiangsu province. Out of boredom, he posted an anonymous article claiming that he was a criminal, and he was planning to organize a group of people to grab the Olympic Torch on May 6.

The article soon attraced a large volume of readership, and caught the attention of local police, who swiftly found out that Tang was the author and arrested him the second day. The article was deleted and Tang was held in custody for ten days as punishment.
