Report: Li Peng’s Son Gets Job As Deputy Govenor In Shanxi

The son of former Chinese Premier Li Peng has been appointed deputy governor of a major northern province, reports said Tuesday.

Li Xiaopeng, 49, has resigned as chairman of state-owned Huaneng Power International, the country’s largest independent power company, leading Chinese financial magazine Caijing and Hong Kong’s Ming Pao newspaper reported.

He is tipped to oversee the coal industry as vice governor of Shanxi province, a leading producer of China’s chief energy source, the reports said.

Huang Yongda, the company’s vice president, was appointed as interim president, Caijing said.
