When we were studying at Western Universities, the Chinese students captured most of the top prizes in Computing Science, Management Science, Business Law and Accounting, Biology , Biochemistry , Engineering, etc. etc. I won 3 prizes .Quite a few of the Westerners were envious and resentful that these slit-eyed Chinese can beat them in studies. When some coursemates came to know that I got a A+ in a course we were doing together, they became resentful and did not talk with me.
I used to write very good English and my lecturer called me up’ ” How can you write so well like an erudite? I cannot believe this is your own work.”
You see. And he didn’t want to give me the grades I deserved.
And how condescending the Westerners sre. They said to me, ” You Chinese are very good at making silk and rearing fish and pigs. ”
” Yeah, ” I countered, ‘ and they are good at the Sciences too cos i am now translating some research papers by Chinese scientists from Mandarin to English for our (Western ) University. ”
