Superstitious Numerologists Draw Connection Between China’s Medal Count And The Sichuan Earthquake

The Chinese internets are abuzz with the idea that China’s final medal count of 51 golds, 22 silvers and 28 bronzes coincides with the date and time of May’s devastating Sichuan earthquake — 5.12, 2:28pm.

… the rumour from spreading like wildfire. But fear not, as inhouse censors with the key Chinese portals are now deleting the superstitious posts as soon as they appear, as this comparison of the same search term on Baidu shows.
