China Sacks MPs for Graft

From the Straits Times:

On Tuesday, three legislators were removed from their posts for corruption. Zhu Zhigang, former vice finance minister and director of the budget work committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) was removed from his post, as well as NPC Standing Committee members Zhu Siyi and Xie Bin.  Says the Times:

Corruption has long been a source of intense public discontent in China, pushing the government and the ruling Communist Party to adopt strong measures to defend their legitimacy.

The incident was also covered by China Daily and Shanghai Daily.
