Gas Leak in China Steel Plant Kills 17

A gas leak has killed 17 workers and has injured 27 at a steel plant in Zunhua, a city 93 miles east of Beijing.  From The Times of India:

The leak occurred this morning at the Ganglu Iron and Steel Co Ltd about 150 kilometres east of Beijing in Hebei province, the Xinhua news agency said.

According to Xinhua, a total of 44 people were working around the blast furnace when an explosion vent panel burst on the top of the furnace’s gravity dust filter leading to the leak. Workers are believed to have inhaled the carbon monoxide that emanated thereafter.
