My god the government is really TMD clueless about their “foreign propaganda.” Arguably China’s image with many people is worse than it deserves to be (since they basically imagine it to be something like North Korea) but China will never win a significant number of people over unless it can be even remotely honest. China basically doesn’t seem to have ever acknowledged that it might have any tiny bit of fault in any dispute it has ever had with a foreign country. “Chinese are the kindest and most peaceful people in the world and want only peace and harmony (BUT YOU JAP DEVILS AND THE “BA GUO LIAN JUN” ARE GOING TO GET YOURS) and have never done anything wrong and civilize everything they touch (and all appearances of ethnic disharmony in places that have been our territory by right for thousands of years are due to the work of certain people with ulterior motives [the CIA and JAP DEVILS]” is not a narrative that anybody non-Chinese is going to go for.
