Poem: Blogging is My Performance Art – Zhang Daozheng 张道正

picture-13The “grass-mud horse (草泥马)” has now become the icon of online resistance to censorship. It seems that everywhere the “river crabs (河蟹)” go, the “grass-mud horses” grow in numbers. Here is another example: Blogger, independent film maker and poet Zhang Daozheng was born in 1982, graduated from Shandong University of Arts and is a member of the Chinese Communist Party (according to baike.baidu.com). He wrote the following poem on his Sina blog (Warning: NSFW):

Blogging is My Performance Art

Zhang Daozheng 张道正

I want to dance, you put chains on me
I want to sing, you put a muzzle on me
I want to speak, you put a gag on me
I want to write, you forbid and censor me

I want to breathe, could you leave me the fuck alone?
I want to shit, could you leave me the fuck alone?
I want to make love, could you leave me the fuck alone?

I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you forced me to jump over the Wall.
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you put me into the prison cell.

I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
The sky is yours, can’t you just give me a little bit of sunshine?
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
The earth is yours, can’t you just give me a spot to stand on?

I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you forced me to jump over the Wall.
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you put me into the prison cell.

I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you forced me to jump over the Wall.
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you put me into the prison cell.
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you forced me to jump over the Wall.
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I am just writing a blog, you put me into the prison cell.

I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I really want to pee in your mouth, let you know what it tastes like
I fuck! I fuck! I fuck!
I really want to fuck your entire family, let you know how I feel.

Blogging is my performance art, do you understand that?
I am singing “I am a Grass-Mud Horse,” to let the whole world know.

(The Grass-Mud Horse is now has its own Facebook group)
