New Edition of China Encyclopedia Published

A new edition of the of China, which has been compiled over 14 years, has been published by the of China Publishing House this month.

The second edition draws on a corpus of 32 volumes, 60,000 items, 30,000 pictures and 1,000 maps, said the publishing house Wednesday.

The Encyclopedia of China was the first large-sized comprehensive encyclopedia in China. Its first edition was published in 1993.

The publishing house’s Editor-in-Chief said, with 60 million Chinese characters, the latest edition is much slimmer than the 130-million-character first edition.

The new edition rewrote a large number of items, updated or replaced some outdated ones, and integrated some overlapping ones.
