China Arrests Man Over Poisoned Dumplings Exported to Japan

A man has been arrested in the case of the “poisoned dumplings” sent to Japan two years ago. >From Business Week:

The 36-year-old suspect put a poisonous substance in the frozen dumplings when he worked as a temporary employee at the Tianyang Food Plant in Hebei province, the ministry said in a statement yesterday. The man was unsatisfied with his salary and treatment by his colleagues, according to the statement.

“We value the efforts of the Chinese authorities and those involved in the investigation,” Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today. “Now that a suspect has been arrested we feel that we are closer to the truth. We will continue to communicate with China.”
