CDT Needs Interns!

China Digital Times (CDT) is hiring interns. We are looking for energetic, self-motivated people with an avid interest in China, journalism, and online media. This is a part-time, unpaid internship with the potential to transition to a paid position within a few months. The position is based in Berkeley, CA though for the right candidate it is possible to work remotely.

We are looking for between 2-4 self-motivated and enthusiastic interns for a variety of positions:
- News Aggregator: to help monitor online news about China, manage automated RSS news feeds, and post content to China Digital Times. The ideal candidate has knowledge of contemporary Chinese society and politics and familiarity with ongoing current events there; good news sense; and an excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and style.
- Social Media Outreach: To help develop and increase CDT’s presence on a variety of social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook, etc. Applicants must be well-versed in social media sites and capable of thinking up creative strategies to distribute CDT’s content online.

All interns must be self-motivated and able to work independently while also being able to work as part of a small team. Familiarity with or willingness to learn the workings of the WordPress blog software and basic HTML is required.

This is a unique opportunity to learn online publishing and news-gathering skills firsthand on one of the most widely-read English news sites about China. We prefer this position to be based in or near Berkeley, CA though it could be fulfilled remotely by the right candidate. The position allows for flexible hours and the ability to work from home.
