The following examples of censorship instructions, issued to the media and/or Internet companies by various central (and sometimes local) government authorities, have been leaked and distributed online. Chinese journalists and bloggers often refer to those instructions as “Directives from the .”

The following order was sent out by Beijing Municipal Chinese Communist Party Committee, Propaganda Department on July 30, 2011, translated by CDT.

To all news units subordinate to the city, and the municipal Internet police office:

Concerning the issue that the signal system currently in-use on the Beijing subway system was developed by the same company as the signal system relevant to the major crash of the Yong – Wen line high-speed railway: no report, no comments on this matter. City Internet management office, please carry out your work with excellence on public opinion management and control online.
