Sensitive Words: Wang Lijun Incident on Sina Weibo (2)

The list of sensitive words surrounding the Wang Lijun Incident has morphed since CDT’s first post on the subject. Below are words that were censored as of February 10. Some have already been rehabilitated.

“Huang Qifan” (黄奇帆): Mayor of Chongqing. There are rumors that Huang went after Wang by having armed police surround the U.S. consulate on February 7. Unblocked in February 11 re-test.

“Qiu Jin” (邱进): Qiu is a deputy commissioner of China’s Ministry of State Security. He was believed to be on the same Chengdu-to-Beijing flight with Wang.

“Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China” (团中央): The Wang Lijun incident has sparked discussions on Party infighting between the “League Faction” (Tuanpai 团派) and the “Crown Prince Party” (Taizidang 太子党).

“Maintenance-style demolition+temporary rape: (保护性拆除+临时性强奸): Both phrases are part of the “vacation-vtyle therapy” meme.

Note: CDT Chinese has launched a project to crowd-source filtered keywords on Sina Weibo search. CDT independently tests the keywords before posting them, but some searches later become accessible again. We welcome readers to contribute to this project so that we can include the most up-to-date information.
