“Taiwan Expert” Gloats Over U.S. Ambassador’s Death
Recent developments in the Diaoyu Islands dispute have stoked jingoistic rhetoric in print and online, but netizens think someone has gone too far. Verified Weibo user @sunshineGaoyang, who identifies himself as the Editor-in-Chief of the CPPCC Journal: Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Weekly and a “Taiwan expert” wrote a venomous anti-U.S. and anti-Japan post today. (Whether genuine or through a technical sleight of hand, this post already has about 1700 comments.)
sunshineGaoyang: I just heard the delightful news that the U.S. ambassador to Libya was killed. I hope this kind of attack on U.S. officials sweeps the globe! We can aim higher, too, like the U.S. president, the secretary of state, vice secretary of state and all department heads! Let’s move a united front against Japan and the U.S.!
Below are a selection of comments in reaction to this jingoistic post:
BrilliantVillage: @HuXijin, come see your colleague! Think he’s read a lot of the Global Times?
光华村： @胡锡进 总编，看看你的同行！是否《环球时报》看多了？
wulimashasaoChirp: And he’s a Taiwan expert? No wonder Taiwan doesn’t want to come back.
HuShufen: Taiwan expert? I fear for President Ma.
black&old: Is China producing the next generation of fascists?
xcroger: Go to North Korea then.
cangtu2012: @usembassy, find out if this guy has family in the U.S.
仓土2012： @美国驻华大使馆 ，查此人家人是否在美国
HuadaoDavid: Brainwashed into terrorism, eh?
TNTDoctor: This is the quality of China’s bricksperts. How f**king disgusting. No wonder China’s foreign relations are such a mess.
