    Xi Jinping’s death-grip lockhold on one-party authoritarian rule is typical of privileged Party princelings.

    “Yeltsin gave a speech standing on a tank, but the military made no response, keeping so-called ‘neutrality.’ ”

    Xi is also endorsing the massacre in Beijing in 1989, so don’t expect any openness on that subject either. The only reforms I would have any hope of passing are loosening the one child policy and perhaps some hukou reforms, particularly when it comes to letting immigrant children attend local schools.
