Hexie Farm (蟹农场): Pointing a Finger

For his latest contribution to the Hexie Farm CDT series, cartoonist  responds to recent reports of the detention of protesters demanding that Party officials reveal their personal assets. In the cartoon, the Tiananmen Gate represents the rising tide of public opinion challenging China’s one-party leadership. Meanwhile, the lopped off finger (which brings to mind the work of Ai Weiwei) shows that the government’s attitude toward free speech has not changed under Xi Jinping.
