Badiucao (巴丢草): Red Mark

Badiucao (巴丢草): Red Mark

In a sneak preview of his future collaboration with CDT, cartoonist Badiucao (巴丢草) comments on the case against journalist Chen Yongzhou, who was detained for his reporting on construction machinery manufacturer Zoomlion. Chen later appeared on CCTV “confessing” to spreading misinformation, though several people have raised doubts about the legitimacy of his confession. Fueling these doubts, Chen’s neck had an evident red mark when he appeared on TV, in what some people suspected was evidence that he had been tortured.

Badiucao depicts Chen Yongzhou with the red Young Pioneers scarf, worn by many schoolchildren in China, around his neck.
