Badiucao (巴丢草): Free Gao Yu

Undaunted by an online smear campaign against him, cartoonist Badiucao responds to 71-year-old Chinese journalist Gao Yu’s seven year prison sentence, announced on Friday. Gao was accused of leaking state secrets abroad, likely referring to an internal memo on “seven perils” to Party rule, Document No. 9. Her lawyers say that the case against her depended on an inadmissible false confession obtained under duress. She maintains her innocence, and will appeal.
