萱萱 (Xuānxuān): Genie

A nickname for the Central Propaganda Department, used frequently by journalists and media managers. The term sounds like the repeated first syllable of “propaganda” (宣传 xuānchuán), but a different character is used which makes the term sound like the flirtatious nickname of Taiwanese pop star Genie Chuo (卓文萱 Zhuó Wénxuān). “Genie” is also written with the first character for “propaganda” (宣宣).
