红派壹号 (hóng pài yī hào): red pad
This is the Chinese Communist Party’s answer to the iPad. Introduced in January of 2012, the Red Pad was designed for Party cadres, cost approximately twice as much as the iPad, and included applications to keep the user up-to-date with the latest Party directives. Due to netizens vigorous mocking of the device, advertisements and media reports were pulled shortly after its announcement.
