China Economic Policies Focus on Developing Rural Areas

Here is today’s NPR report about Chin’s policies on its vast underdeveloped rural areas. NPR’s Rob Gifford reports: “Beijing launches a program called the Great Western Development to raise the standard of living in the rural west, and capitalize on the area’s natural resources. The country’s economic development policies over the past 25 years focused on prosperity in the more populated eastern coastal areas.”
