China lifts ban on marriage, childbearing for college students

From New Kerala: “China today announced a sweeping reform in the university-level education by lifting a five decade-old ban on marriage and childbearing for college and postgraduate students.

Addressing a meeting on the sensitive subject at the prestigious Peking University here, Fan Yi, an official with the student affairs department from the Ministry of Education, said the draft regulation on college student management will no longer have specified articles prohibiting college students and graduate students getting marriage and having children while in school.”
