From The International Herald Tribune:
Lien Chan, the chairman of Taiwan’s leading opposition party, the Nationalists, on Tuesday became the most senior Taiwanese politician to set foot on the mainland since China and Taiwan were separated by war six decades ago. Lien called his arrival in eastern China historic.
Nationalist and Chinese officials have choreographed Lien’s eight-day visit to China around symbols of the historic links between the Nationalists and the mainland.
