Taiwan’s Soong Bills China Visit as `Bridge-Building’ Effort

From Bloomberg:

A second leading Taiwan opposition politician will head to China tomorrow for what he calls a “bridge-building” visit to ease more than 50 years of hostilities with the mainland.

“The theme song for my trip is Simon and Garfunkel’s `Bridge Over Troubled Water,”‘ People First Party Chairman James Soong, 63, told reporters today in Taipei. “I will lay me down to bridge the differences between people on two sides of the Taiwan Strait.”
