Government crackdown on foreign media in China is nothing new; Beijing routinely blocks access to foreign news organizations such as the BBC. But if the authorities are obstreperous enough it can avoid censorship altogether: Media giant News Corp.’s plans to broadcast in China via a local partnership have been shelved amid increasing government resistance to foreign influence in the domestic media, according to a report.
