Former Adviser to China’s Wu Yi to Defend Times Researcher Zhao – Bloomberg

Guan Anping, a former legal adviser to China’s Vice Premier Wu Yi, will help defend Zhao Yan, a New York Times researcher charged with revealing state secrets.

“Our strategic objective is to help Zhao get a fair trial, a trial where evidence presented by the government is examined in an open and transparent fashion,” Guan, managing partner of Beijing-based corporate law firm Anping & Partners, said in a phone interview today. Guan, 49, was an adviser to Wu when the vice premier was minister of foreign trade in the 1990s.[Full Text]
