A Chinese pilot is seeking political asylum after landing in Los Angeles on Wednesday. He is afraid to return to China because he knows he will be persecuted for his beliefs. He told reporters that he was totally unprepared to make this decision, but had to.
“They are very tight in monitoring Falun Gong practitioners. They are tightening their policy in secret, but appear on the surface to be loosening their policy on Falun Gong, thus giving Chinese people the delusion that Falun Gong does not exist in China any more. Yet they have not stopped the persecution. Recently, when a summit was held in Shanghai City, they had a mass arrest of Falun Gong practitioners. Most Chinese people cannot tell this is happening, because they only arrest people at night.”
Yuan said that he has no plans for the future, and that he has to face the decision he has made on this matter on his own. [Full Text]
