Wang Refuses to Team up with Ma, Prefers to Lead Legislature – Taiwan News

The drama of the proposed Ma-Wang ticket came to an end Thursday as Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng declined Kuomintang presidential nominee Ma Ying-jeou‘s invitation to be his running mate, saying he prefers to stay in the lawmaking body.

Ma said that while disappointed at Wang’s refusal, he would respect his decision and support his continued leadership in the Legislature as the nation is due to elect new lawmakers in December.

The two made known their intentions after a closed-door meeting at Wang’s residence at noon. [Full Text]
